Gucci Mane Locked Up Again

Just as his buzz was reaching new heights Gucci Mane the Atlanta rapper hit a major setback in his search for Hip Hop fame.

Earlier today (November 12th) The Burrprint hit maker, was sentenced to a year in prison for violating the terms of his probation.

This comes as a major setback for the rapper who's buzz had grown very large over the past few months. To make things worse for both the rapper and his fans, the sentencing will take effect immediately, effecting the remainder of his promotional tour for his new album titled The State Vs. Radric Davis.

Although for many it is saddening news, it comes as no surprise since this was not Gucci's first run in with the law. In 2006, he had murder charges against him dropped after he was accused of shooting a man during an attempted robbery. He also did some prison time for assualting a man by the name of Tyron Tucker in a nightclub.

It is possible that Gucci could be released within six months, but he will still miss the release of his album which will feature Lil Wayne, Cam'ron, Soulja Boy, OJ Da Juiceman, Bun B, E-40, Trina and more.

Gucci's album will be in stores on December 8th.

David Banner Creates Fitness Application

Mississipi Rapper David Banner had a long and grueling journey that lead to his eventual weight loss
. At one point he was so unhealthy that he was suffering from High Blood Pressure, and was not to far from diabetes as well as several other weight related diseseas. Through a stringent workout regime and dicipline, he has transformed himself and is a posterboy for healthy living, now he is taking his workout styles and eating habits and putting them on an application for Ipod and Iphone users.

The rapper has teamed up with the interactive fitness company PumpOne to create an application that will allow fans to benefit from from the same work outs that possibly helped Banner get into such great shape.

The application titled “David Banner’s Work Out or Die” will allow people who suscribe to the application to receive video's of the workouts and strategies that Banner uses, along with advice and tools from the rapper to help the app holders stay true to their new workout and diet.

Owners of the application will also be able to receive streaming content from the rapper for free, content that Banner can constantly update.

In an interview with allhiphop, Banner explained what inspired this idea for the application.

“People are really interested in how I lost weight, one of my friends that works at Apple said, ‘You need to take it to your people and stop talking about it. You’re helping people’s lives. That’s a way for you to continue that movement.’ And I decided to do it.”

Banner who in just three months dropped over 50 pounds after weighing 255 pounds in 2008. As he say's his weight was begining to cause several health problems which could only be improved if he addressed his level of health. Before the weight loss he suffered from high blood pressure and sleep apnea the same thing that the late Pimp C had.

Banner has cited his weight loss for helping him and his doctor discover that his high blood pressure was actually something that was hereditary, which gave them the ability to taylor a plan that would allow him to stay healthy despite the ailment.

The weightloss application will be will be available in early 2010.

Drake Talks w/ Rap-Up Magazine

Young Money's biggest signee, Drake, has been pretty quiet as of late as he's been locked up in the studio working on what may be the biggest hip hop debut in some time, Thank Me Later. He recently checked in with RapUp as he touches on picking songs for his album, as well as possible producers (Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Timbaland) as well as his in-house crew, Noah "40" Shebib and Boi-1da, who helped create So Far Gone.

He also shut down rumors that "Shut It Down", which features The-Dream, would be the first single, stating that "It deserves to be a single but it's not the 1st single". While he has not yet chosen a first single, Drake has around six possible choices to choose from (so far) and for now, he is still shooting for a February release.

Lil Wayne Agrees w/ Plea Deal: 8 months?

Lil Wayne will be forced to plead out to a jail term in New York City on Thursday, according to sources with AllHipHop.com.

The rapper is expected to accept an 8-month bid in jail over his alleged involvement with a loaded .40-caliber pistol gun found on his tour bus in 2007 while in New York.

The 27-year-old now faces 15 years in jail for each count of criminal weapons possession and criminal possession of a loaded weapon.

"Wayne is going to plead guilty," a source close to the case told AllHipHop.com, stressing that this was definitely going to happen. The rapper pleaded not guilty at press time and has yet to make any such public declaration. "The date is coming up and he's going to do it tomorrow."

Wayne is rumored to be willing to accept the deal to avoid a long term in jail over the gun. The same source said the term will begin in February of 2010 under the terms of the deal. "If he doesn't plead, he goes to jail for a long time," the source said.

"They told him that if he doesn't plead tomorrow, it will go to trial and then he faces a far longer jail term," the source continued.

A small amount of DNA may have changed the landscape of the case, according to a report by the Associated Press. There is a "minuscule" amount of the rapper's DNA on the gun, reports say, and that has strengthened the case for the prosecution.

Another hearing is set to resume tomorrow, where the rapper will reportedly announce his next move.

AllHipHop.com was unable to obtain comment from representatives for Wayne at press time and the rapper didn't speak to the media at a court date earlier today.

Lil' Wayne has another trial looming in March over felony drug and weapons charges from a January 2008 police raid.

Nas Didn't pay his taxes?

Uncle Sam must have his crosshair set on Hip Hop as New York rapper Nas has been hit with a federal tax lien to the tune of $2.5 million.

According to TMZ, a federal tax lien filed last month against Nas for a whopping $2,584,206.31. Records state Nas failed to pay his taxes for 2006 and 2007.

50 Cent Makes VH1 History

50 Cent’s Behind the Music episode on VH1 has reportedly made ratings history for the network.

According to Fif’s thisis50.com Website, the rapper’s show scored the highest premiere ratings since 2000’s Faith Hill program. 2.2 million viewers tuned in on Tuesday (October 13), making VH1 the most watched cable channel during that time period. 50’s show beat out other BTM episodes on Lil Wayne and T.I.

The VH1 Hip Hop Honors premiered directly after the G-Unit leader’s Behind the Music. The ceremony, which marked the 25th anniversary of Def Jam Recordings, was also one for the books. It had the highest ratings of the franchise’s six-year history.

Diddy Frisks Fans Over Lost Ring

Diddy accidentally tossed a $20,000 diamond-studding ring into a crowd while making it rain at a recent taping of BET’s 106 and Park, reports the New York Post.

Diddy and his group Dirty Money caused a frenzy when they began to throw fake money along with real $1 bills into an audience of teenagers at the taping. After the performance and Diddy’s realization that his ring was gone, an announcement about the missing jewelry and it’s value caused an even more feverish frenzy as the crowd dropped to their knees to find the treasure.

Security was called in to search each audience member thoroughly before they were allowed to leave. A metal-detecting wand was used in the search however, the ring has yet to be found.

JR Writer Shot In New York

Dipset member J.R. Writer is reportedly recovering after suffering a gunshot wound to the leg this past Sunday.

Though details are still scarce, the rapper did confirmed he was at least injured during the shooting via his Twitter page.

"Thank the Lord I'm Alive, they tried to kill ya boy." Writer posted.

Writer's spokesperson has yet to comment on the report however, we do know Writer sustained a bullet wound on Sunday evening, October 11th, 2009, while out in the Bronx.

"That's crazy, I didn't hear about it. Damn, I don't know. It's dirty out there in the streets," Juelz Santana told AllHipHop about the shooting.

Jim Jones, Juelz Santana and Writer had performed together as recently as last week, at 50 Cent's Thisis50 Festival in New York.

The Hot Boys Reunion Is Going To Happen!

While speculation about a Hot Boys reunion continues to rise with Juvenile saying last that he is unsure of the reunion happening, Juvie recently spoke with SOHH to confirm the group are getting back together:

“I like this question, I like this question,” Juvie admitted. “I’ve been talking to Baby, man. I’ve talked to Baby, he’s real behind doing the Hot Boys album thing. He done came at me three times but the whole thing was and I wanna be truthful to everybody, it was me and him talking. Me and Wayne was cool. Me and B.G. was cool, all of us was cool but I really had to talk to Baby. We had to put everything out on the table and settle our differences and that was something we’d never done. And I can honestly say it’s been done now so y’all can definitely be looking forward to that album. It’s coming. It’s confirmed [laughs] I got a check already. I always say that when people ask like, ‘Man, they already paid me on the Hot Boys album,’ so you know, with me, I’m already in. It’s just a matter of everybody else being in. I don’t think it would be right if we left Mannie Fresh out. Don’t you think? He was the producer, he did all the music for Hot Boys, so we gotta have him involved, if he don’t do the whole album [then] he gotta do something on there.”

Finally this has been confirmed, and Birdman announced on his UStream earlier announced that the Hot Boys reunion album will drop next year.

Apparently Diddy has lined up some big names to join him on his trans-Atlantic journey, including Drake, T-Pain, Officer Ricky Ross, Lil Wayne and possibly Jay-Z, the Bad Boy top dog revealed to MTV News.

Well damn I was already interested in Diddy's new album because he is a great producer/artists. Though I did have doubts on this album, but not as much anymore.

50 Cent was Rushed to the Hospital

After a long weekend of activites, including performing, throwing a festival in his old neighborhood in Queens, and preparing for his upcoming Thisis50 Concert, 50 Cent has definitely been working hard.

This afternoon while in his Manhattan offices, employees say that 50 Cent was listening to Fat Joe's new album, "J.O.S.E. 2" when all the sudden, he collapsed! An ambulance was called, and by the time they arrived, 50 Cent regained consciousness and was complaining of blurred vision and a severe migraine. 50 Cent was rushed to Mt. Sinai hospital at 4:26 pm.

Doctors say after performing a Cat Scan and EKG there seems to be some damage to his auditory cortex, which is the region of the brain that is responsible for processing sound.

Lil Wayne Rebirth Album Gets New Delivery Date

We can’t say we didn’t see it coming. Lil Wayne’s Rebirth has suffered yet another setback.

The Cash Money rapper’s oft-delayed album will make the perfect stocking stuffer when it arrives on its new release date of December 15, Rap-Up.com has learned. It is now scheduled to drop 10 days prior to Christmas, during what are typically the busiest shopping weeks of the year.

Rebirth was previously slated for a November 24 release. Two tracks were commercially released from the project earlier this year, “Prom Queen” and “Hot Revolver.”

Lil Boosie Sentenced To 2 Years In Prison

Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie has been sentenced to two years behind bars after pleading guilty to drug and weapons possession charges as part of a plea deal.

The charges stem from an arrest last fall after deputies reportedly seized a bag of marijuana, a cigar containing the drug and a gun from Boosie's car.

The 26 year-old rapper, real name Torrence Hatch, was scheduled to stand trial this coming Monday but entered a plea deal today to avoid trial.

He was sentenced to two years of prison time, however, he could serve as little as one year depending on his behavior while incarcerated.

Beanie Sigel Wanted By Police, Arrest Warrant Issued

Police have reportedly issued a warrant for the arrest of State Property's Dwight "Beanie Sigel" Grant after the rapper failed to appear in court this week regarding a drug charge.

The rapper was reportedly due in court yesterday (September 14).

A municipal court judge in Burlington County issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Sigel, whose real name is Dwight Grant. Judge Gregory McCloskey issued the warrant after he failed to appear on a drug-possession charge, according to Carol Beismann, deputy administrator for the court shared by Chesterfield, North Hanover, and Wrightstown. Sigel was originally arrested last month on a drug possession charge while he was traveling to a performance in New Jersey.

Dwight Grant, 35, who is known as the rapper Beanie Sigel, was found in possession of under 50 grams of the drug during a 12:44 a.m. traffic stop at the intersection of Fort Dix and Main streets, said Sgt. Julian Castellanos, spokesman for the New Jersey State Police. The driver, Karl S. Dargan, 24, of Philadelphia, and another passenger, Justin S. Gaines, 25, of Westville, Gloucester County, also were charged with marijuana possession of under 50 grams, Castellanos said. Grant, Dargan and Gaines were not believed to be in jail, Castellanos said. On Sunday, Grant was on his way to perform at a private function at Kelly?s Bar on Rexall Avenue, according to a bar employee. The performance was canceled as a result of his arrest, the employee said. (Philly Burbs News)

The Philly emcee previously spent time behind bars in early 2008.

Sigel has been on a slow decline since his bid in 2004. March 27, 2008 saw the rapper behind bars again for three months for a third probation violation after receiving positive tests for Xanax and Percocet over five times in a month. (Hip Hop Wired)

He recently landed on the sales charts with the release of his Broad Street Bully album.

State Property's Beanie Sigel debuted on the charts this week as his Broad Street Bully album landed at No. 77. The Philadelphia-bred emcee's latest effort has sold 6,600 records after seven days. (SOHH Sales Wrap)

Jay-Z Scores 11th No. 1 Album, "BP3" Sells 476K In First Week

Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3 has become the number one album in the country today (September 16) selling over 476,000 copies in its first week on store shelves.

In addition to Hov, Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon also landed on the charts with the release of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Part 2.

Jay-Z has made an impressive land and Roc Nation debut as The Blueprint 3 has officially sold 476,100 copies in its first seven days on stores shelves making it the No. 1 album in the nation. Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Part 2 secured the No. 4 slot with 67,900 sold copies. (Sales Wrap)

Early estimates showed both rap veterans debuting high on the charts.

Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3, the first release from his Roc Nation imprint through Atlantic Records, will debut at No. 1 with a total between 300 to 350k. The Beatles' stereo and mono box sets are selling out at Amazon and other online retailers. Next up on the debut list is IceH20's Wu-Tang Clan member Raekwon with the sequel to his celebrated Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, distributed by EMI and should be good for 55-60k. (Hits Daily Double)

Hov also had to struggle through an early leak of his Blueprint 3 album nearly two weeks prior to its official release.

"I may be the most bootlegged artist in history," he said in an interview after learning the news. "It's a preview. I'm excited for people to hear the album. I'm very proud of the work I've down, so enjoy it...My pager is actually ringing right now, so people are probably calling me and telling me they pretty much like it. Kid Cudi & Drake Sales (Projection)

Kid Cudi has had a whirlwind past couple of weeks, he's released a new album; was a guest on the Dave Letterman show, and even performed live at concert with Jay on 9-11. It looks like all of the exposure over the last couple of weeks has really paid off, and the Hip Hop freshman is being projected to sell between 110-120,000 records from his debut album Man on the Moon: The End of Day.

But Cudi isnt the only one doing good, his label mate Drake also had a pretty good week with the release of the retail version of his mixtape So Far Gone which is expected to sell between 55 and 60 thousand records in its Soundscan debut. With the projected results of their album sales, it looks like these two rookies maybe on the way to very successful careers.

In an interview with XXL, Cudi spoke about how all of this exposure with Hov, Letterman, and the VMA's will help with his album sale's and he seemed to think that they would drasticly effect how succesful he would be at reaching out to fans.

“I think it’s gonna make a lot of people more aware, I think it’s gonna make a lot of people a lot more interested because in these last couple of days each of those moments has been different demographics, the Jay-Z was definitely a hip-hop show, and later on seeing me on David Letterman, which is a very mainstream show, you know you don’t see a lot of hip-hop artists on a Letterman type show, so each thing I did was very monumental.”

The projection for both Drake and Cudi's album sale were based on first day sales.

Alicia Keys Speaks On Lil Mama Stage Crash

Alicia Keys has addressed Lil Mama's unexpected stage crash last weekend during her "Empire State of Mind" set with Jay-Z at the Video Music Awards and saying the young emcee should have remained seated.

After initially declining to address it, Keys briefly spoke about the incident during an interview on "The Today Show."

"I would rather not speak about [it] because the performance was so phenomenal it doesn't even matter about anything else," Keys explained. "Jay-Z and I are native New Yorkers, it's kind of a classic New York song like new Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli...I can appreciate her being overwhelmed and inspired but we would have preferred she did it from her seat..." Lil Mama recently apologized and spoke on why she appeared on the stage without being invited by Hov or Keys.

"I didn't know what Jay said," Lil Mama explained in an interview. "I thought he was like, 'OK, enjoying the moment with me, interacting,' which was after I walked up. But after watching it from home, watching myself on the Internet, I'm bouncing and I'm coming up toward Jay-Z and he's backing up. And my emotions at the time was like a vibe, like, 'Yeah, New York.' I was definitely caught up in the moment. He was backing up and when I got home I realized [he said], 'Oh, you gonna T-Pain it, huh.' I realized it when I got home. Now that I'm home, I was like, 'Wow, Jay-Z wasn't feeling it.' I would never get up there and try to disrespect Jay-Z or take a moment that someone else created and try to live it. I'm too original for that and I respect him too much for that. Just when people thought that Kanye West
was coming back to earth, the Chicago Emcee found a way to remind fans of all genre's of music just who he is, and this time his actions affected an innocent bystander.

After country singer Taylor Swift won the Award for Best Female Video the rapper/producer stormed on to the stage, grabbed the mic from Swift, and protested on the behalf of Beyonce.

"I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time,"

Kanye's remarks were not met too kindly as a majority of the people in attendance were very upset with his comments.

MTV is reporting that afters cut away from Kanye, he flipped the crowd off then went back to his seat, when Wale tried to defend Kanye by saying "You cant blame a man for speaking his mind" he was also boo'd.

Despite his actions, after the show Kanye quickly posted an apology to Swift on his website Kanyeuniversecity.com

XXL Exclusive: Boi-1da, A Star Is Born

Drake isn’t the only star emerging from Toronto. T. Dot producer Boi-1da is steadily making a name for himself behind the boards—crafting noteworthy singles over the past 12 months, including Kardinal Offishal’s “Set It Off,” Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” and the monster collabo “Forever” featuring Drizzy, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Eminem.

With a growing clientele that includes G-Unit, the Diplomats and Andre 3000, it looks like Boi (born Matthew Samuels) is just getting started. XXLMag.com recently caught up with the beatsmith to speak on his role on Dr. Dre’s mythical Detox project, his interest in the Jonas Brothers and his work on Drake’s highly anticipated debut, Thank Me Later.

XXLMag.com: I read that Drake is trying to come up with his own sound instead of using big name producers. You have definitely cemented your place as one as Drake’s signature producers. How many tracks have you done for the new album?

Boi-1da: Right now I have three that I know of. There are a lot of other beats that he likes. There is one that he wants to use and there are like a couple other beats. The thing is, [the way] Drake works is differently. He won’t write a song exactly when he gets the beat. He’ll want ‘til it comes to him and than after that he will write.

XXL: How many of those songs has he recorded already?

Boi-1da: One of them [he] recorded that’s finished and one of them he just said, “Yo, this has to go on my album.”

XXL: I could already kind of pick out when I hear your tracks. I’m interested to hear how would you describe your sound?

Boi-1da: I will describe my sound as loud. Dr. Dre is my favorite producer and when I hear Dr. Dre beats it’s like they’re loud, they hit you hard. So I try to make myself, like model myself after Dre albums and just make my sound like the hard-hitting music like it smacks you, and you can’t go nowhere because it’s gonna like smack you back into place. I try to make my music ‘smacky.’

XXL: On your wiki page it says that you’re working on Detox, is that true?

Boi-1da: Yeah I was actually submitting tracks for Detox through my boy Brandon, who’s [the] A&R for Dr. Dre. After he heard the “Set it off” track that I did for Kardinal, he actually wanted that beat. I had already gave it to Kardinal and it was already on his album but he liked the beat so much that he didn’t even rap in three years and he came out, he came out and started rapping and did a remix over it. Everybody was like, “What the hell, Dr. Dre ain’t rap in like three years.” So they were hollering at me to get a beat that was like similar to that.

XXL: You got some track record, man. You got Dre rapping, you putting out Eminem, Kanye and Wayne on the same track. What other projects are you working on?

Boi-1da: Right now I’m working on an artist from Toronto I’m developing named August. He’s an R&B singer, amazing R&B singer. Like he’s really, really good. We’re working on his stuff. I’m working on a lot of stuff with Sean Garrett. He’s writing to a lot of my beats. I submitted some stuff for Usher. Usher is cutting, I think he cut a record of mines yesterday.

XXL: Word

Boi-1da: Who else? I’m trying to work with the Jonas Brothers. Like I’m just trying to get in with it where I fit in. You know?

XXL: Wow

Boi-1da: I don’t even care. I just, I’m just trying work with whatever, whoever, why ever, however. You know what I am saying?

XXL: You’re actually submitting to them or that’s just like a dream of yours?

Boi-1da: Yeah, they’re actually coming down to Toronto soon and we’re supposed to get in the studio.

XXL: So how much has your price gone up after “Forever” came out?

Boi-1da: A billion dollars. [Laugh] I’m joking. [laugh] I don’t even know yet. It went up obliviously, but like you know, I’m not that kind of, I’m not even worrying about like how much I’m getting paid off of a beat. I’m just trying work with everybody and make hits with everybody. You know?

XXL: Right, so Sean Garrett, Usher, Jonas Brothers. Any rappers that been hollering at you?

Boi-1da: Any rappers? Actually I’m working on Busta Rhymes’s new album, his new project coming out right now. He got a lot of heat coming off that album. I was in L.A. the other day with The Game and I gave him a few beats. He actually recorded a song to a few of my beats. Also Nipsey Hussle. I’m working with Nip.

This aint the first time I done said it. Nothing has changed. I called Jay and I said can you come out on my set [during Summer Jam] and do the D.O.A song, it’ll be a big look for me and you. I embrace the song, I love the song and don’t get me wrong Jay-z is the best in the game period. I would never say anything different. At that time he said “yo I’m triple booked, I’m in Switzerland right now, I can’t do it”. Then I’m ready to go on stage after Jeezy set and they said “hold on, Jay-z is about to come out with Jeezy” and I said ” Jay-z is in switzerland”. They say “no he’s not, he’s right there” and I look to the side and there’s Jay-z. So he gets on the stage and when he gets to the part where he says “I don’t need anyone smiling at this” he pointed at me and then at the end of the song when I tried to shake his hand, he turned around, gave the mic to someone and said “good riddance”.

Chicago Jay-Z Concert Ends In Violence While New York Concert Interrupted By Weed

It appears as if fans of Jay-Z aren't having such a good time at his most recent venues.

During his stop at Chicago's House of Blues, a man was stabbed in the back following an altercation with a couple.

The stabbing stemmed from an argument between the victim and another man as they were leaving the concert area shortly before 11:30 p.m., said Police News Affairs Officer Gabrielle Lesniak.

The victim's sister and the other man's girlfriend got into an argument. Things escalated into a shoving match after the men intervened. The unidentified 32-year-old then stabbed the 20-year-old victim in the back.

House of Blues security staff intervened and seized the attacker. Police arrested him on the scene.

The 20-year-old victim was taken in good condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Most recently, last night at New York's Blender Theater, his 75 minute set came to a halt after some sneaky fans' marijuana smoke set off the fire alarms.

Jay was reportedly 3/4 of the way through his set when the sirens went off and the music cut out.

The crowd booed as Jay-Z walked offstage to investigate the disturbance and security guards were sent into the audience to search for the pot culprits, although they emerged empty-handed.

Jay returned a few minutes later and finished off his performance.

Symantec's push: Get malware to do it itself

Multiple variations of a single threat have become a potential risk to the efficacy of definition-based antivirus, so a system like Quorum--in which the unfamiliarity of a new threat becomes the tool by which the threat is neutralized--could drastically improve security programs.
Symantec noted that it hasn't abandoned last year's pledge to improve Norton's performance, and it is keeping the quick scan to about one minute. An in-progress scan conducted with the beta version used about 70MB of RAM, while the program used about 15.5 MB when idle. Symantec also exposes how much memory the program is using in the main pane. Symantec says that in the final version, Norton users should expect to see working memory usage at less than 10 MB, and that the "quick scan" should be completed in 64 seconds.
